After the Navratri and Durga Puja celebrations, the wait for Karwa Chauth has started in almost all parts of India. This auspicious holiday is mainly celebrated by Hindus in northern India. On this day, married women fast one day from morning to night. They eat a pre-dawn dish known as “Sargi” and drink or eat again after performing the Karwa Chauth ritual at night. According to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, feast day is celebrated on the fourth day after the full moon in the month of Kartik.

What is Sargi?

Sargi is the most important pre-dawn meal eaten by all married women before beginning the fast. On Karwa Chauth day, the women wake up at 3-4 am to prepare their food. Married women consume their food before 5 am. Many women eat their Sargi together to strengthen their bond of love and cohesion.

The rites and rituals of a married woman have no beginning and no end. If this is your first time celebrating a festival, you should know these Karwa Chauth food items to include in your Sargi thali or Karwa Chauth pooja thali to get the celebration off to a good start.

Fresh Fruits

Everyone knows that fresh fruit has high water content. Since Karva Chauth Vrat Ninjala means that one has to live without water, consuming lots of fresh fruit can keep a woman hydrated.

Milk

Drinking a glass of milk in Sargi can save you from feeling hungry and thirsty all day long. Milk is rich in vitamins and minerals that provide energy throughout the day. You can drink a glass of milk with a little sugar, or eat rice with milk, or even drink milk with a fox.

Dried Fruits

Dried fruits like almonds, walnuts, cashews, etc are also contained in the box. Nuts are considered beneficial, but they are also rich in nutrients and calories. Due to their high-calorie content, a handful of nuts provides enough energy and nutrients for the day.

Sweets And Desserts

The traditional belief is to start every event or occasion with something sweet. Indian delicacies are the perfect start for any occasion. Dry fruit cakes are full of nutrition and give energy and purity. Eating sweets will automatically lift your spirits and will definitely help you prolong your day. As you know, desserts are full of nutrients, so your body craves a delicious dessert. While desserts may not be the healthiest form of carbohydrates, eating them right can improve your health and provide your body with the fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants it needs.

 Easy Food To Prepare

Vermicelli, perhaps plain cooked vegetables, or halva – they can also be found in Sargi Thali. They will fill you up but not too heavy to satisfy your hunger.

Cooked Food

Mathris, Light Bread, Regular Sabji, Halva – these are ready meals that should be included in Sargi Thali. All of these foods will fill you up, but make sure you eat according to your diet, as overeating can cause digestive problems.

Sargi Thali, which celebrates the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, is an integral part of Karva Chauth. Make sure to include the right items in this Thali to make your fast blessed and successful.
